Zina Uckeley

PhD

Zina received her B.Sc. through a Double-Degree program in Applied Biology at the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University in Germany and in Life Science at HAN University in the Netherlands. She then completed her M.Sc. from the University Duisburg-Essen working at the Institute for HIV Research in Essen. During her Ph.D. Zina worked in the lab of Pierre-Yves Lozach at the University Hospital Heidelberg, where she characterized the roles of different proteins and lipids for arboviral infections after proteomic and lipidomic approaches. Moreover, she focused on the host switch of arboviruses from arthropod to mammalian cells and determined fusion requirements for SARS-CoV-2 infectious entry into cells. Zina joined the Boulant lab as a postdoc in October 2022. In her free time, she likes to be outside and go bouldering and climbing.
